Numerical Modeling of Low-Velocity Impact on Composite Laminates

چکیده
The response over the low-velocity impact of various shape impactors on a glass fiber reinforced polymer composite has been numerically analyzed with hemispherical, flat, partially flat and truncated shaped impactor used to analyze behavior resistance GFRP at speeds. numerical analysis was carried out using finite element software, ABAQUS (Dynamic/Explicit). To assess laminates while impacting, models were developed. Hashin failure criteria represent braided glass-fiber plate damage. Regarding projectile shape, reaction examined. results also show that mechanical woven under largely depends impactor’s nose velocity impactor.

Modelling low velocity impact induced damage in composite laminates
The paper presents recent progress on modelling low velocity impact induced damage in fibre reinforced composite laminates. It is important to understand the mechanisms of barely visible impact damage (BVID) and how it affects structural performance. To reduce labour intensive testing, the development of finite element (FE) techniques for simulating impact damage becomes essential and recent ef...
متن کاملNumerical analysis of low velocity impact on ceramic-metal-composite targets
In the present paper, the problem of low velocity impact of plates made from different configurations of ceramic, aluminum, steel and composite (S-glass polyester) is analyzed numerically using Abaqus finite element software. The projectile is assumed to be a rigid body with a hemispherical head. Also, for ceramic layers, Holmquist constitutive model, for aluminum and steel layers, Johnson Coo...
متن کاملModeling of the Fatigue Life of Fiber Metal Laminates under Low Velocity Impact by Finite Element Method
In this study, first by using the finite element method, fatigue life of fiber metal laminates of Glare type subjected to impact was obtained and the numerical results of the model were compared with the experimental results. With regard to the very good matching between numerical and experimental results, then the results of the finite element model were generalized and expanded, and with usin...
متن کاملLow Velocity Impact Damage Prediction in Laminated Composite Plates
In this paper, a finite element model is presented for the transient analysis of low velocity impact, and the impact induced damage in the composite plate subjected to low velocity impact is studied. The failure criteria suggested by Choi and Chang and the Tsai-Hill failure criteria are used for the prediction of the damage in the composite plate; then the effect of various parameters on the im...
متن کاملLow-velocity Impact of Sandwich Composite Plates
In this paper we investigate impact and compression after impact properties of plain weave carbon fiber sandwich composites. Impact tests were conducted on different sample types to obtain information about absorbed energy and maximum impact force. The different samples consisted of foam-filled and hollow honeycomb cores with four-layer carbon fiber facesheets on one or both sides. The impact a...
